Coach Baker started in Judo and Jiu Jitsu at an early age and fell in love with these arts right away. He has competed extensively in Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Sports Jiu Jitsu (a predicessor to MMA), and Wrestling. Some highlights of his competition career are:

• 2005 USA Judo National Championships - 2nd place >90kgs Masters
• 2003 IJJF North America Cup - 2nd Place >85kgs Black Belt
• 2002 IJJF US open - 3rd Place >85kgs Black Belt
• 1996 ISJJA World Campionships - 3rd Place >185lbs Black Belt
• 1996 USJJA Nationals - 2nd Place >185lbs Black Belt
